How To: Lease or Buy?
If you are an indecisive individual in most aspects of your life, then when it comes to the big purchases, such as a pet, a house, or a car, it can be a lot to handle. But don’t you worry, I am here to help you decide. When it comes to cars there are a lot of factors to consider when you are determining whether you would like to purchase the vehicle, or to lease it. Are you the commitment type? Or the type that gets bored easily? Do you look forward to the release of every new model from your favorite manufacturer? Or do you look at cars as a means to get from point a to point b? Still not sure? Let me give you some tips to help you decide which method works best for you.
Here are some questions to ask yourself?
- How much do you drive?
- How long did you keep your last vehicle?
- Do you often want to purchase new vehicles based on preferences or hobbies?
- How likely is it you will have a change in your family life or income level that may necessitate a new vehicle?
Let’s just lay out some of the facts you are dealing with here:
- Up-front payments
- Lease: This typically includes the first month’s payment, a refundable security deposit, a down payment, taxes, registration and other fees.
- Buy: This include the cash price or a down payment, taxes, registration and other fees.

Can’t Stand the Heat? Your Engine Sure Can’t.
We have all seen it: that car or truck on the side of the road with smoke coming from the hood. We all have the same thought process, hoping the driver is okay, that they will be getting help soon, but also, “What would I do if that were me?” Well, let us give you some tips to ensure you feel better the next time you happen to drive past this situation, or come upon this misfortune yourself. Maybe you will even be able to help 0ut that stranger on the side of the road!
1. On hot days, keep your eye on the temperature gauge. As you notice the gauge leaning towards the H, which stands for hot, shut off your air conditioner and open your windows, this will decrease the load on your engine, and will help cool it off.
How To: Change a Flat Tire
It seems as though once you learned how to do this in driver’s ed, you’d remember it, right? Well, if you are like me, then then you might need a bit of a refresher as well. The video above, courtesy of AAA, will help, along with the list provided below.
In the misfortune that you are driving and hear a pop come from one of your tires- try to pull over as quickly, and safely as possible.
1. Find a flat area and park your vehicle.
2. Place a heavy object in front of the front and back tires to ensure stability. Using a rock, spare tire, piece of concrete, etc., should help.
3. Take out the spare tire and the jack, and place the jack under the frame near the flat tire.
4. Next is the hubcap. This is where a wrench will come in handy. Loosen the lug nuts on the flat tire by turning them counterclockwise. Try to keep the wheel on the ground as you loosen them, that way you will know that you are turning the lug nuts rather than the wheel. Loosen them, do not remove them yet!

How to: Parallel Park
When living in a densely populated area, one key skill that is necessary for your traveling purposes is parallel parking. The majority of places you will go in the city will require you parallel park, or pay a bit of a ridiculous rate to park in a garage. It can be intimidating, but will save you both time and money in the long run. So why wait to learn?
What to look for:
A space that is a few feet longer than your car. If you are not very comfortable with parallel parking, aim for an extra 5 feet of gap space to help give you room to back your car in.
What to do:
More than likely a car will be waiting behind you, put on your blinker to give a warning that you are going to be parking there. Try to put on your signal before you approach the spot to give a tailing car more time to stop and slow down.
